The Neal Taylor Nature Center Fish Derby is an annual event that has been taking place at Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara, CA since the mid 90s. Every year, hundreds of people venture out for weekend of fun, fishing, and festivities. Over $5000 in cash prizes, raffles, merchandise and more!
The event hosts a variety of activities. People of all ages are welcome to participate. Ages 5 and up can participate in the fish weighing contest, and earn cash and fishing gear prizes. There are also several raffles, with prizes that include fishing gear, gift baskets, local restaurant gift certificates, lake cruises, and more.
Other activities include arts & crafts, workshops, bait-making stations, live music at HOOK’d bar & grill, boat rentals, an on-site disc golf course, and several biking and hiking trails surrounding Cachuma Lake.
This event is a fundraiser for The Neal Taylor Nature Center at Cachuma Lake, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to encourage public understanding, enjoyment, and protection of Cachuma Lake, the Upper Santa Ynez River, and the San Rafael Mountain Range Watershed.

Step into a brand new guided hiking experience that goes beyond our traditional vineyard walks. This route takes you along the Black Bear Trail, where you’ll encounter steady inclines that reward you with breathtaking panoramic views at every turn, reaching 1,508 ft. Along the way, our team will bring the landscape to life, sharing stories, insights, and a deeper connection to the land.
Explore the full trail with us or turn back at the Black Bear Block for a shorter journey. Expect about 1.5 hours for the full walk, or around 45 minutes for the out-and-back, with a 269 ft elevation gain. The trail features hard-packed soil, plenty of elevation to keep things exciting, and views that make every step worth it.
After the hike, head back to the winery to relax with a leisurely lunch and a glass of Zaca Mesa & TREAD wines included with your ticket!

designed to stretch and challenge the 8-second average viewing time for museum
artwork.
This guided experience
will invite viewers into the benefits of mindfulness, curiosity-based
observation, and the intersection of art and nature. Throughout the 90min
walkthrough, viewers are encouraged to spend 5-15min with each artwork of their
choosing. The Museum will be closed to the public throughout the duration of
the tour, and exhibits on display will include When the Earth
Whispers Back: Nature’s Hope & Ocean Forests:
Our Coastal Communities. While the walkthrough will be primarily
self-guided and spent in comfortable silence, attendees will receive a staff
introduction, optional fill-in art mindfulness guide, and a provided picnic
lunch at Hans Christian Andersen Park (customizable lunch order). We
gently suggest wearing comfortable clothing and shoes, similar to a traditional
meditation session.
